How do you calculate LTV?
This calculator uses a gross-margin LTV: average monthly revenue per customer, times your gross margin, times the average number of months a customer stays. Using gross margin (not just revenue) gives a more honest LTV.
Why include gross margin in LTV?
Revenue is not profit. Multiplying by gross margin reflects what each customer is actually worth after the cost of serving them, which is the number that matters for payback and CAC decisions.
